 Unfortunately for us Calif folk in "enhanced" test areas, they do a dyno
run
 on the car and measure NOx.  This is where an EGR comes into play.

 Lastly the shops here all perform visuals on the equipment.

 I wish I could drop a turbo in either of my cars, but the DMV must hate me
 since the last 3 of my cars had to go to a 'test only' station (they're
 stricter) and even a regular smog shop probably wouldn't pass it.

 NOS however is pretty easy to hide. . . .
